Viva Las Vegas!

As an early graduation and 30th birthday gift, mom and I went to Vegas for Memorial Weekend.  We were both Vegas virgins and were definitely excited to see the city.  We landed at 8am on Friday morning and were warmly welcomed by everyone we met and talked to.  We checked in at the Westin, just a block off the Strip, dropped off our luggage and hit the town!

Slot machines in the airport terminal...We have arrived!

Over the next couple days we toured through most of the large hotels on the Strip, gambled a bit and saw the sights.  We spent one afternoon at the Price is Right gameshow (the Vegas version).  And while no one won the grand prize, they were actually giving away cash, prizes, and even A NEW CAR!!

On Sunday we spent the evening down on Fremont St. (the original Vegas) where the odds are better and everything is less expensive.  We watched the light show and got ourselves a couple of LARGE beverages.  Mom hit it big on a giant slot machine at the Golden Nugget!!!  It paid her $100 in huge tokens!!  So we loaded up my purse with all hundred tokens and dumped them at the Cashier's desk.  In typical MacInnis style, we were laughing hysterically and making a huge scene.  I also won a little money that evening so we decided to splurge on a really nice dinner of steak and lobster!  We had a little wine with dinner and got pretty tipsy!  (Anyone who knows mom, knows that she doesn't drink much.  But what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...and mom was sucking down drinks like a champ!!  Apparently mom just doesn't like paying for drinks!)

Our large beverages!!

My big winning ticket!!

Only after I took this photo did I realize that the woman on the big screen is topless!! Zounds!

Anyhow, we had a fabulous time.  Our hotel was beautiful and we got to do and see all of the things we really wanted to!  We are already planning our next visit!!

This city just glitters at night!!
